Biography of the ensemble

Founded in 2010 by Raphaël Pidoux, with a team led by François-Xavier Anscutter, president, Talents & Violon’celles brings together masterfully crafted instruments and up-and-coming young talents through an approach that is unique and essential in France.

Leading French luthiers craft violins, violas, and cellos, funded by patrons: these artistic creations are organized by Talents & Violon’celles, which receives them on loan. In addition, private individuals entrust their precious instruments to the association so that they may be played. Over the past twelve years, more than 100 young musicians have been able to continue their development by playing on instruments that match their talent, loaned by Talents & Violon’celles. Without this support, most would not have had access to them due to their high cost.

As of late 2022, the Talents & Violon’celles Endowment Fund manages more than 70 instruments, including 24 commissioned from 17 luthiers. With the support of its wonderful patrons, it promotes French instrument making and supports young musicians through a variety of initiatives, beyond simply lending instruments: an international instrument-making competition (1edition edition in 2022), master classes with an orchestra, and… the Cello 8 octet.
