Artist in residence at the Arsenal de Metz, a fruitful collaboration puts him in the spotlight. Recorded here, the release of the first two parts of the complete chamber music of Brahms with the Hermès Quartet, Amaury Coeytaux, Raphaël Perraud and Nicolas Baldeyrou have also received the accolades of the press, with Classica's shock of the best recordings of 2019, ffff from Télérama, 5 from Diapason.

Brahms has always fascinated Geoffroy Couteau. After winning 1st Prize in the International Johannes Brahms Competition in 2005, he recorded Brahms' complete works for solo piano for the La Dolce Volta label. Ranked among the best recordings of 2016, this recording adventure was rewarded by the specialist press: choc de l'année by Classica, ffff by Télérama, 5 de diapason, Pianiste Maestro. The international press also rewarded him with 5 stars from the German magazine FonoForum and the highly prestigious Geijtsu Record in Japan, while German radio stations MDR and SWR praised his playing and personality. Le Monde, Le Figaro, l'Express and Les Echos rave about the quality of his discourse and the depth of his commitment.
Geoffroy Couteau has already had the honor of performing in the Great Hall of Beijing's Forbidden City, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Rio de Janeiro's National Theatre of Fine Arts, Hong Kong Concert Hall, Bangkok's National Theatre...

In France, he has performed at the Musée d'Orsay auditorium, the Opéra Bastille amphitheatre, the Théâtre de l'Athénée, the Philharmonie de Paris amphitheatre, the Maison de la Radio, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, the Salle Gaveau...Geoffroy Couteau is a regular guest at festivals such as Piano aux Jacobins, Festival de Menton, Festival de Saintes, Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, Lille Piano Festival, Esprit du Piano, Festival du Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo, "Festival de l'Epau, "Piano à Lyon", Festival Messiaen au pays de la Meije, Festival d'Eygalières, Festival International de musique de chambre de Salon de Provence...

Geoffroy Couteau made a brilliant career at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, which he entered unanimously in Michel Béroff's class. In 2002, he was awarded the Diplôme de Formation Supérieur, the Prix mention très bien, Premier nommé, by unanimous vote of the jury, and the Prix spécial Daniel Magne. The same year, he entered the advanced piano cycle and studied chamber music with Christian Ivaldi, obtaining the Prix mention très bien. He has taken part in numerous master classes with such luminaries as Dmitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleisher and Christoph Eschenbach.
