Born in 1995, Violaine Despeyroux began her musical studies at the CRR de Toulouse at the age of 5 with Valérie Apparailly, where she was awarded 1st prize for viola and chamber music in string quartet in 2012. Since September 2012, she has been studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in Jean Sulem's class.In 2014-2015, Violaine perfected her skills at the Hochschule de Munich in HariolfSchilchtig's class.

In 2011, at the age of 16, she won 1st prize unanimously at the Concours National des Jeunes Altistes, with special mention for the best interpretation of Dimitri Tchesnolov's "Sonate Rhapsodique".In 2014, she received 2nd prize and the prize for the best interpretation of a work by J.S. Bach at the "Cecil Aronowitz" International Viola Competition in Birmingham.
Her talent as a performer has also come to the fore at the European festival JEUNES TALENTS, where she was invited to participate in Anne Le Bozec's carte blanche, and at the CANTUS FORMUS festival, where she is regularly invited as a soloist.

She performs all types of repertoire as a soloist and chamber musician, from J. S. Bach to Tristan Murail. Attracted by chamber music, which occupies a central part of her musical activity, she has participated in various formations (quartet, quintet, octet, etc.) in the classes of Vladimir Mendelssohn, Michel Michalakakos and Jean Sulem. She took part in the 2013 tours with the Gustav Malher Jungen Orchestrer conducted by Herbert Blomstedt and Philippe Jordan.Selected by Seiji Ozawa, in 2014 and 2015, to take part in the International Ozawa Music AcademySwitzerland, she benefited from the teaching of Nobuko Imai, Pamela Frank, Sadao Harada and Seiji Ozawa. This has enabled her to perform with string quartets in venues such as Geneva's Victoria Hall, the Fondation Louis Vuitton and the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris.

She has taken part in master classes with Thomas Riebl, Gérard Caussé, Antoine Tamestit, Tatiana Masurenko, Barbara Vestphal and the Ardeo Quartet, as well as interpretation courses at the Tibor Varga, Lac Léman International Academy and Cervo, enabling her to perform as a soloist in Geneva or with Mozart's Concertante and J.S. Bach's Viola Concerto.

Violaine plays a Jacquot viola from 1863.
