Saxhornist, flugabonist, composer and improviser, Tom is a dynamic, curious and passionate young musician who dabbles in a wide range of musical styles, from classical and jazz to contemporary music. In 2011, he joined Philippe Fritsch's saxhorn/euphonium class at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), where he obtained a master's degree in saxhorn in 2016. The same year, he joined Alexandros Markeas and Vincent Le-Quang's generative improvisation class at the CNSMDP.
Alongside his "classical" training, Tom showed an early interest in jazz and improvised music. He is one of the founders of the "Big Funk Brass" funk/new-orleans brass band, the "Slow Down" quartet, and plays with the Elephant Tuba Horde, Orchestre Franck Tortiller, Jean-Marie Machado's Danzas Symphonia, Andy Emler's TubaFest and others.
He performs throughout France and abroad in numerous ensembles and with prestigious soloists. He is regularly invited by the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo and others. In 2014, he premiered Pierre Jansen's Concerto for Saxhorn and Orchestra, Andy Emler's Back and Force for saxhorn and piano. In 2017, he founded the brass sextet No Slide, and in 2023 joined the Saxback wind ensemble. Tom has been interested in composition from an early age. He writes and arranges the repertoire for his personal projects. In 2023, he composed Aravis, commissioned by the La Clusaz wind band for wind band, DJ and solo vibraphone.
Tom currently teaches tuba, saxhorn and euphonium at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental in Bourg-la-Reine, and at the Pôle Supérieur 93 in Aubervillers. He is regularly called upon to teach in the pedagogy department of the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP).
