Biography of Julien Bouclier
Born in Göttingen in 1990, Samuel Hasselhorn is now one of the most influential performers of his generation. After studying in Hanover and Paris, and winning prestigious competitions—notably the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2018—he has established himself on the international stage, both in opera and in the fields of recital and concert performance.
As an opera singer, Samuel Hasselhorn was first a member of the Vienna State Opera company, then of the Nuremberg State Opera. He now performs regularly at major opera houses, such as the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Frankfurt Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and La Scala in Milan. During the 2025/26 season, he will make his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in a new production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, in the role of Count Almaviva, as well as at the Baden-Baden Easter Festival as Heerrufer (Lohengrin), under the baton of Joana Mallwitz. He will also return to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden under the baton of Christian Thielemann, in the role of the Barber Schneidebart in *Die schweigsame Frau*, as well as for the world premiere of *Das kalte Herz* by Matthias Pintscher and for concerts featuring Brahms’s *Requiem*, which he will also perform in a staged version at the Opéra de Rouen.
Alongside his opera career, Samuel Hasselhorn is passionately dedicated to the art of the Lied. One of his major projects is the “Schubert 200” series, in which he is recording, alongside pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz, Lieder by Franz Schubert for the Harmonia Mundi label through 2028—each composed exactly two hundred years ago. The first two albums, *Die schöne Müllerin* and *Licht und Schatten*, were awarded a Diapason d’Or of the Year as well as the German Record Critics’ Award. He also excels in the orchestral repertoire: his symphonic album Urlicht – Songs of Death and Resurrection, recorded with the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Łukasz Borowicz, was released in the summer of 2024 and won both the Best Vocal Album and Recording of the Year awards at the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA).
His concerts and recitals have taken him to prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Schubertiade in Hohenems, the Opéra de Rouen, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and the Salle Bourgie in Montreal.
Critics praise not only the clarity and warmth of his voice, but also the intensity of his interpretation of the text and his ability to convey musical drama through psychological nuances of great subtlety. Combining technical brilliance, stylistic breadth, and a strong artistic curiosity, Samuel Hasselhorn has secured a prominent place on the international stage. His career blends the classical legacy of the great baritones with a resolutely modern interpretive approach—a voice that powerfully shapes the opera and vocal art of our time.
Biography of Dimitri Bouclier
Dimitri Bouclier's career has been exceptional, and he has achieved remarkable success from a very young age.
Thanks to the perfection of his playing and his extraordinary charisma, he has performed in solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and as a soloist with orchestras in France, Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy, Bosnia, and Serbia. He is invited to major classical music festivals and has performed in prestigious venues such as the Radio France Montpellier Festival, the Lille Piano Festival, the Flâneries Musicales de Reims, Cully Classique, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Théâtre Impériale in Compiègne, the Corum in Montpellier, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, and the Young Virtuosos of New York. He is a regular guest on French and Swiss classical music radio programs (RSR Espace 2, France Musique, etc.).
Born in France in 1989, Dimitri Bouclier began playing the accordion at the age of 7, made his debut as a soloist in recitals, and has been invited to open for renowned concert artists (M-A. Nicolas, F-R. Duchable, P. Soave, A. Skliarov, C. Thomain) as early as age 10.
He studied the accordion with his father, Thierry Bouclier, director of the Annemasse and Genevois Accordion School, and with Jacques Mornet at the CNIMA in Saint-Sauves, Auvergne. He also attended masterclasses with Y. Shishkin, A. Skliarov, F. Lips, V. Semionov, E. Moser, and J. Crabb, and graduated from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in the class of S. Chapuis.
Between the ages of 10 and 19, he became one of the youngest and most prestigious winners of major international competitions: Klingenthal, the World Cup, the World Trophy, and Castelfidardo.
In 2000, he won the "Azzola-Zolotarev" International Competition in Aubagne in the under-12 soloist category.
In 2003, he won first prize at the Klingenthal International Competition (Germany) in the soloist category for musicians under 15.
In 2004, he won first prize at the “Jeunes Talents” competition in Montrond-les-Bains, the Max Francy Prize, and the André Thépaz Prize.
In 2005, he won the Alexander Skliarov Prize at the FAIV International Competition, as well as the two most prestigious international accordion competitions: the Trophée Mondial in La Bourboule and the Coupe Mondiale in Portugal in the Junior Classical category (under 18).
In March 2008, he won the Montrond-les-Bains International Prize in the senior soloist category.
In October 2008, at just 19 years old, he won top prizes at the world’s leading international concert accordion competitions in the senior division, including Klingenthal, the Premio di Castelfidardo, the World Cup in Glasgow, and the unanimous first prize at the World Trophy in Sarajevo.
He thus joins the very select group of accordionists who have won the World Trophy in both the Junior and Senior Classical categories (the second Frenchman to do so after Richard Galliano).
While Rostropovich established the accordion in the upper echelons of jazz, Dimitri Bouclier aims to establish his instrument on the international classical music scene. The experts are clearly in agreement, as he has been signed in the U.S. by the former agent of M. Rostropovich, Yo-Yo Ma, and G. Sokolov.
He was unanimously selected as a recipient of the Georges Cziffra Foundation award in 2010 and received the Banque Populaire Corporate Foundation award in 2013.
In addition to his career as a concert performer, he teaches at the University of Geneva.
