What does it mean to be a contemporary American composer? What creative strategies and ways of renewing musical language do these artists propose? This lecture explores the musical universe of two emblematic composers of today's United States, David Lang and Julia Wolfe, in particular through the works The little match girl passion and Anthracite Fields, pieces that won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2008 and 2015.
