Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal de Versailles
Orchestra
- Tuesday, June 24, 8:00 PM
- Opéra de Reims, Reims
The Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles hosts more than a hundred performances each season, partnering with the biggest names and international performers to grace this prestigious stage. Building on these high-level experiences, the Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal was born in December 2019 for the Opera Les Fantômes de Versailles by John Corigliano. Made up of musicians who regularly work with the greatest conductors, the Orchestra champions a broad repertoire ranging from Baroque to Romanticism and Classical. Because of the history of the place whose name it bears, the core of its repertoire is music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Several conductors are brought in to lead the Orchestra over the seasons, each bringing his own musical vision to bear on the program, such as Gaétan Jarry, Stefan Plewniak, Victor Jacob and most recently the young Baroque violin virtuoso Théotime Langlois de Swarte.
The Orchestra, with its variable geometry, adapts to the needs of the different projects of the Opéra Royal and Château de Versailles Spectacles. From chamber music to opera, via symphonic concerts, the Orchestra's different formations ensure the best musical cohesion for each genre.
