Principal horn with the Orchestre national de Lyon since 2009, Guillaume Tétu is one of the most sought-after horn players of his generation. Trained by Martial Prost at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional du Grand Chalon, then a student at the Conservatoire national musique et danse (CNSMD) de Lyon in the class of David Guerrier and Michel Molinaro, he is regularly invited to play as principal horn with the leading orchestras (Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre national de France, Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, Opéra de Paris...).
An avid chamber musician, he took part in the creation of Quintette K, a wind quintet with which he won prizes at the Lyon (2008) and Marseille (2009) international competitions. His solo appearances in concertos by Mozart, Strauss, Schumann and Britten with conductors such as Emmanuel Krivine, Ton Koopman, Lawrence Renes and Gergely Madaras are unanimously acclaimed, as are his recitals with pianists Antoine de Grolée, Suzana Bartal and Hsin-I Huang. His great musical curiosity leads him to collaborate with period-instrument ensembles (La Chambre philharmonique, Les Siècles, Les Ambassadeurs...).
Also active in the field of contemporary creation, he recorded Martin Matalon's Trame VII for horn and ensemble with the Mesostics ensemble, to critical acclaim (Classica, Diapason). In December 2023, he will give the world premiere of the Grand Poème alpestre "Nach Garmisch " for horn and orchestra, commissioned by the Orchestre national de Lyon from composer Bechara El Khoury.
Always happy to meet young musicians, Guillaume Tétu has taught at numerous summer academies. He supervised the French Youth Orchestra's horn section in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, he was appointed horn professor at the École supérieure de musique Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and since 2023, he has been teaching at the CNSMD de Lyon.
