David Reiland has been Music Director of the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est since 2018. He has also been Music Director of the Sinfonietta Lausanne since September 2017 and, since January 2022, also Artistic Director of the Korean National Symphony Orchestra for a three-year term.

Trained for three years as assistant conductor of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment under Sir Simon Rattle and Sir Roger Norrington, David Reiland was musical and artistic director of the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg from 2012 to 2017. He is the first Belgian conductor in 20 years to lead the Orchestre National de Belgique. He returns regularly, as well as to the Royal Philharmonique de Liège, the Opéra Royal and the Orchestre symphonique des Flandres.

Highly acclaimed for his interpretations of Mozart, David Reiland won over press and public alike during his years at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, an experience that also brought him to Paris to conduct Mitridate. The ex-assistant of the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg made his debut with the Münchener Symphoniker and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam in summer 2019. He will also return to work with the Gewandhausorchester at the Leipzig Opera and Berlin's Komische Oper for a new production of The Magic Flute. In February 2020, David Reiland made his debut with Berlin's Konzerthausorchester in a program dedicated to Mozart.

In France, in addition to the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est, David Reiland has also conducted the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France at the Opéra de Massy and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

David Reiland has a loyal relationship with the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, who since 2020 have entrusted him with the title of "Schumann Gast", previously held by Mario Venzago for 13 years. This prestigious title emphasizes the special bond between the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and the composer. Testifying to this relationship of trust, David Reiland has opened the 2020-2021 season with Frank Peter Zimmermann at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf in August 2020.

David Reiland recorded a monographic program of works by Benjamin Godard (1849-1895) with the Munich Radio Orchestra, published by Palazzetto Bru Zane. He recorded La Sirène by Daniel Auber (1782-1871) for Naxos. He is currently working with the Orchestre Royal Philharmonique de Liège on an anthology recording of the works of Belgian composer Albert Huybrechts (1899-1938).

With the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est, he took part in the recording of a boxed set honoring French Romantic women composers, with over 200 artists, for the Palazzetto Bru Zane (2023). He has also recorded two discs at the Arsenal for La Dolce Volta, Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 with Geoffroy Couteau (2021), and Poétesses symphoniques released in 2023 and rewarded by Diapason and Télérama.

His plans for the 2023-2024 season include a new recording of Brahms' La Dolce Volta with Geoffroy Couteau and the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est; a recording of Bizet's ode-symphonie Vasco da Gamas with the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est for the Palazzetto Bru Zane; a new production of La Bohème at the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz; and a return to the Leipzig Opera for a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor. In great demand in Asia, David Reiland returns to conduct the Macao Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Korean National Symphony Orchestra; he will open the Kirishima Festival in August 2023.
